Following the rapid rise in the fuel prices across the country 'fall' of rupee against the dollar and other issues, the Congress party has called for a Bharat Bandh on September 10, Monday. Even other opposition parties like DMK, NCP, RJD, JD(S) have also extended their support in the nationwide protest, the Congress has also asked civil society groups and NGOs to join the nationwide protest.
The Bharat Bandh will be observed across the country on Monday, between 9 am and 3 pm. Congress communication department head Randeep Surjewala said the timing of the bandh is such that “the common person is not inconvenienced”.
The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has also extended its support to the Bharat Bandh tomorow over fuel price hike.

Bank Services:
However, as per a report in Indian Express, Bank services will not be affected due to a nationwide ban. a bank official has said that it will not impact the banking services and banks’ work will continue as usual.
Schools:
In a precautionary measure, the schools across Odisha state will remain shut on Monday in view of the Bharat Bandh call given by the Congress over the rising fuel prices.
According to a Times of India report, many educational institutions have decided to declare a holiday as transport services may be affected between 9 am and 3 pm. These schools will have full-day classes on Saturday (September 15) to compensate for the closure on Monday. Exams scheduled for September 10 are likely to be postponed due to the shutdown.
Transport Services:
According to Indian Express reports the buses in Karnataka will also remain off roads as the KSRTC Staff and Workers Association have offered to support the bandh, therefore, services by all state-run transport corporations – BMTC, KSRTC, NWKRTC, NEKRTC - will be hit. The association is backed by the All-India Trade Union Congress.
"Increase in fuel prices has had a huge impact on the transport industry. But we can't take a sudden decision without consulting all associations and MNC vendors," K Radhakrishna Holla, president, Bangalore Tourist Taxi Operators’ Association told TOI.
