Bengal: Woman stripped and paraded naked by mob over illicit affair with married man

Another shameful case of mob thrashing has come to light from West Bengal where a 28-year-old woman was assaulted by locals allegedly over her affair with a married. The woman was beaten up, stripped and paraded naked by a mob in Birbhum district.

The video of the incident went viral on the social media platform, in which people can be seen thrashing the woman and also paraded across the village.

However, she was rescued by police and is under the protection of Police.

As per the police, the 28-year-old married man consumed poison on October 17 and was declared dead by doctors at the hospital. The man, who is survived by his wife and two sons, was having extramarital affairs with the woman.

“On October 18 when the body reached the village, all the women attacked the victim. The widow claimed that her husband killed himself because of the 28-year-old woman. The victim was beaten up and stripped. Police, however, managed to rescue her,” a police officer said.

Reportedly, the victim is also married and has two sons, was now in police custody.

The woman had allegedly run away from her home in 2011 and later, returned. This made villagers suspect her of having illicit relationships.

Meanwhile, Police have filed complaints and looking into the matter.
