Ayodhya Dispute: Mediators gets time till 15th August to resolve the matter

The mediation panel for the whole Ayodhya temple-mosque dispute has today given time till 15th August by the Supreme Court to come up with some concrete solution. "The panel wants more time, which we are inclined to give," said a constitution bench head by CJI, Ranjan Gogoi.

In the hearing that long lasted for six minutes, CJI also said, "The mediation panel is optimistic."

Besides the Chief Justice, the other judges were Justices SA Bobde, DY Chadrachud, Ashok Bhushan and S. Abdul Nazeer. In the previous hearing, the top court had asked to set up the panel head by former Supreme Court judge FM Kalifulla over the decades-old dispute for mediation. The panel has been tasked by the court told to hold the consultations to explore the potential avenue for the final settlement.

The other two primary members of the mediation panel are spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar and Senior advocate Sriram Panchu, a popular name in the mediation panel cases. The panel was called after the court noted "the lack of consensus between the parties in the controversial matter."
