After a shocking incident occurred in Delhi where Jawaharlal Nehru University student Umar Khalid got attacked by an unidentified person, several politicians have joined the row to extend their support to the leader. Jammu and Kashmir former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti called the attack as ‘mockery of our democracy’.
She took to Twitter and also wrote, ‘ Today's attack on Umar Khalid by hate mongers days before Independence day is a mockery of our democracy. Certain sections of the media too played a sinister role in whipping up a public frenzy by projecting him as anti-national.’

She also raised a question that we always feel pride as living in the world’s largest democratic country. Mehbooba also asked ‘Do we really want to be reduced to a mobocracy where is no regard for rule of law?’
