After the massive outrages over the mob victim's death in Rajasthan's Alwar due to delay by cops to take him to a health centre, Rajasthan Police on Monday suspended an Assistant Sub-Inspector and three police constables have been sent to police lines. The victim, Rakbar, who was brutally lynched by a mob over a suspicion of cow smuggling. The police said today that preliminary investigation has confirmed lapses -- a three-hour delay in taking Rakbar Khan to the hospital for the distance nearly 4 km.
The action against cops was taken after a video purportedly showing ASI Mohan Singh, who was posted at the Ramgarh police station, admitting to his "mistake", went viral. "Mere se galti hogai...kaise bhi maan lo..saja de do ya chhodh do...seedhi si baat hai(I made a mistake...punish me or pardon me...it is simple and straight)," the ASI can be heard purportedly saying in the video.
It is alleged that the police was arranging the car for the cow instead of taking the victim to the hospital. The Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a report from the Vasundhara Raje government.
Reportedly, the victim was lynched by a mob in Rajasthan's Alwar over a suspicion of cow smuggling for slaughtering on Friday. The villagers attacked Rakbar and Aslam, in the meantime, Aslam managed to escape. In this case, questions are being raised about the role of the police.
The Rajasthan cops allegedly took 'three hours' to reach Ramgarh Community Health Centre, which is roughly four kilometres from the spot Rakbar was lynched.
