As the second phase of the Lok Sabha polls is scheduled on April 18 and Delhi will poll on May 12, the Congress is still buying time to align with the Aam Aadmi Party and a spar of words have taken place on Twitter since Monday evening between Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal.

In the political corridors of Delhi, speculations were high about an alliance between the two bitter rival ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, in order to defeat the re-surging BJP which had decimated both AAP and Congress in their own bastion by winning all the seven seats of Delhi.

Creating a furore, Rahul Gandhi first time officially broke his silence and tweeted stating, “An alliance between the Congress & AAP in Delhi would mean the rout of the BJP. The Congress is willing to give up 4 Delhi seats to the AAP to ensure this. But, Mr Kejriwal has done yet another U turn! Our doors are still open, but the clock is running out. #AbAAPkiBaari”

The media circle surrounded the Congress and AAP workers for a clarity over the alliance as the theories have suggested that a 4-3 seat sharing might take place, with an electoral alliance in Punjab and Haryana. The Delhi leadership of the Congress had been in favour of the alliance except former CM Sheila Dikshit.

Arvind Kejriwal also retorted over the tweet of Rahul Gandhi and tweeted in Hindi, “Your tweet proves that an alliance (in Delhi) is not your wish but for public consumption. I am saddened that you are indulging in such public recriminations. Today, the country needs to be saved from (Narendra) Modi and (Amit) Shah. It is unfortunate that you are splitting anti-Modi votes in Uttar Pradesh and other states and helping Modi.”
