Aadhaar

Launched in 2012 by UIDAI, the Aadhaar card has today become one of the most crucial documents in India. Comprising a 12 digit number, the card was launched with an objective to have a single unique identification number or document that includes every necessary detail of an Indian citizen.

The Aadhaar card is compulsory for availing many important government schemes like PDS schemes, for pensioners, opening government bank accounts, mobile and internet connections, EPF withdrawal, and many more.

The Aadhaar card incorporates your personal details such as name, address, age, photo, and more. Any mistake in the above-mentioned information can result in the cancellation of your benefits or facing problems in the transaction. Luckily, you can easily put right any Aadhaar-related error online. Here’s how to do it.

How to fix Aadhaar-PAN name mismatch or spelling error:

Not long ago, the Indian government made it mandatory to link the PAN Card with Aadhaar Card for filing tax returns. The name mismatch in both ID proofs can cause a problem. Here’s how to fix this.

Step 1: Go to the Aadhaar self-service update portal.

Step 2: Login using your registered mobile number and OTP generated.

Step 3: Click on Update Aadhaar online.

Step 4: Select the ‘Edit name’ option from the list and type the correct spelling.

Step 5: Click on the submit button. A sum of Rs 50 has to be paid which is non-refundable. You will receive a service request number which you can use to track the request.

How to fix or change the address on Aadhaar card:

If your address is wrong or you have recently relocated, here’s what you need to do to update the address.

Step 1: Go to the Aadhaar self-service update portal.

Step 2: Login using your registered mobile number and OTP generated.

Step 3: Click on Update Aadhaar online.

Step 4: Select the ‘address’ option from the list and type the correct address.

Step 5: Click on submit option. Pay the Rs 50 charge. You will receive a service request number which you can use to track the request.

The procedure is much the same as changing the age, gender, date of birth, and the language in your Aadhaar card.
