After passing the 10% Reservation Bill successfully in the both houses of Parliament, an organization has approached Supreme Court challenging the legality of the bill.
A petition has been filed by an NGO, Youth for Equality in the Supreme Court, challenging The Constitution (103rd Amendment) Bill, 2019 which has given 10 % reservation in jobs and education for the economical weaker section of General category.
The Youth For Equality told Catch News that ‘although we support the Bill which is in favor of the Economically Backward Classes but we want the 10% reservation being given should be accommodated in the 50% reservation criteria and merit must not get affected.’

Earlier, the upper house and the lower house of the Parliament had passed the Bill with 2/3rd majority after the Rajya Sabha session got extended by a day.
Sanjay Singh of the AAP said in the Parliament, “This is a historic moment, if this bill is passed today, then in the coming days, RSS, which couldn’t make a single Dalit their chief in 90 years, will end the reservation for Dalits and backwards.”
