Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the government is asking people to wear masks while stepping out from home in order to prevent the transmission of the virus. If you have bored with your ordinary masks that are available in the market then you will definitely like the masks designed by these Kolkata kids.
Children in the City of Joys are keeping themselves busy by doing some creativity at their homes. As per the reports of India Today, children have designed fashionable masks with metallic brush paint, crystal stones, and other decorative items.
An 11-year-old girl, Anika Goenka made her homemade mask for herself, her siblings and even other children in her locality. She revealed that she decorated the masks that are made of cloth which she obtained from her father’s factory.
While talking to India Today, Anika said, “I love doodling and I was bored doing so on paper. So, I thought of doing it on these plain masks.”
The 11-year-old girl designed masks with doodles, cut-out flowers, metallic brush paint, crystal stones, and other decorative items.
She also added that “the masks are made of safe cloth from my father's factory and they are not only decorative but also usable.”
Reportedly, Anika’s father Shantanu Goenka is a fashion designer in Kolkata. He also told that during this tough time, factories and workshops have been closed. But he believed that keeping busy children in such creative things can make a big difference amid such chaos.
“My daughter came up to me and asked, 'Dad, why can't we be a bit more interesting? These boring masks that you are wearing every day, can't we make them a little more interesting and fashionable?' Thereafter, she got all her cousins living with us and started working on little projects on the beautification of masks. We dug up our house and got markers, paints, glitter, and crystals, and we tried to beautify these masks in different ways,” Shantanu Goenka said.
Not just Anika but her cousins also joined her to make such fancy masks during the novel coronavirus outbreak.
This creativity of kids in Kolkata is definitely an inspiration for others who are thinking that what they can do by sitting idle at home.
