Sagar (Madhya Pradesh): As Independence Day approaches, people are gearing up to wear khadi clothes, which have undergone a fashionable makeover. The relationship between fashion and Independence Day is growing stronger, and khadi garments are becoming a popular choice for youngsters.

Khadi is no longer just about plain white shirts and kurta-pyjamas. With the advent of new designs and varieties, khadi has become a fashion statement. On the occasion of Independence Day, special varieties of khadi clothes have hit the market.


In Sagar city, shops like Gandhi Ashram, Khadi Ashram, Bundelkhand Gramin, and MP Khadi Gram Udyog are selling khadi products, with sales of around Rs 10-15 lakh per month. People are particularly fond of khadi kurta-pyjamas, shirts, and gamchas. Moreover, khadi razai, gadda, and takia are also in high demand for home use.

Special discount from October 2

Ramji Yadav, manager of Gandhi Ashram, informed that from October 2, the government will offer a 20% discount on khadi products, which will continue till March. This special offer has increased sales, with an estimated Rs 2-3 lakh worth of clothes being sold every month. The demand for khadi clothes is expected to rise further on Independence Day, with sales projected to reach Rs 2 lakh.

Youth also prefer Khadi

Ramji Yadav said that youngsters are showing a keen interest in khadi clothes, particularly printed kurtas. Girls are also getting their kurtas and kotis designed with special prints. On Independence Day, people want to wear traditional attire, and khadi is becoming a popular choice.
