From Avant Garde to confection, London Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018 saw a mellifluous blend of contrasting fabrics, textures and forms projecting India's rich heritage in fashion with a global appeal.

Celebrating textures, tradition and textiles, emerging India inked a global footprint as global industry and media attend the FAD Runway Show at London Fashion Week.

The collection embodied the notion of intrinsic textiles and textures, which was accentuated with contemporarised Indian embroideries, macrame knotting and surface ornamentation techniques such as metal work, inverted diamond smocking, gold embroidery using aari and zardozi and three-dimensional texturising.

The collective unveiled diverse collections of vivid hues using pure silks, georgettes, leather, soft tulle, velvet, jute, crisp organza and multicolored yarns. Fabric manipulation was manifested through heat pressing, perm pleating, distressing and draping to create structured to flowy and exaggerated silhouettes.

The collections reflected India's rich plethora of textiles and handloom culture.

The FAD emerging designers who maneuvered this ebullient brew were Manali Khude, Mehak Somjee, Nidhi Jain, Shambhavi Mudgal, Savio Dsouza, Shraddha Katariya, Simran Oswal and Simran Sachdev.
