Contestants of Miss Ability 2018, a beauty pageant for the differently-abled, participated in a pre-competition photoshoot here on Friday.
The main contest, which is being organised by Vasundhara, an NGO, will witness nearly 16 participants, selected from around 200 applications; battle it out for the main title of Miss Ability 2018.
The contestants will be sporting creations from Adipya, the outfit partner for the event, while hair and makeup for the photoshoot was done by Anoo's.
"During the photo shoot, we helped the participants pose, apart from doing their hair and makeup. We want to encourage them to be a part of the modeling industry. I feel disability is not a physical thing, but completely related to mindset," Mehek Murthy, business development manager of Anoo's told ANI.
Meanwhile, Kiranmayee, a contestant, expressed her confidence in the community in reaching greater heights in the days to come.
"From my childhood, I have been facing many struggles because of this disability. However, that did not stop me from completing my education. If I get a chance, I wish to educate the differently-abled and give them all facilities with my own money," she said.
On a related note, the beauty pageant will be held on April 1.
