Girl abducted from Sindh province

In yet another incident of atrocities against minorities in Pakistan, a Hindu girl has been reportedly abducted in Hyderabad town in Pakistan's Sindh province while she was returning home. As per reports, a complaint has been filed and police are searching for the girl.

As per Chandra Mehraj’s parents, she was abducted from the Fateh Chowk area of Hyderabad.

The incident comes days after three Hindu women were abducted and forcibly converted to Islam. The Hindu community is in minority in Pakistan along with the Sikh and Christian communities.

Last month, a 14-year-old girl was kidnapped from the Nasarpur area and another was abducted while returning home in Mirpurkhas town.

In another incident from the same Mirpurkhas town, Ravi Kumar alleged that his wife Rakhi was abducted, allegedly converted, and married to a Muslim man. As per local police, Rakhi, of her own will, converted to Islam and was married to a Muslim man named Ahmed Chandio.

In recent times, several atrocities against minority communities, specially against the Hindu community, have been witnessed in Pakistan.

Kareena Kumari, a girl from the Hindu minority community, testified before the court that she was forced to convert to Islam and marry a Muslim man.

The Central Intelligence Agency's Factbook states that as of 2020, only 3.5 percent of Pakistan's population consists of Christians, Hindus, and other minorities.
