A couple in Pakistan could face death penalty after trying to smuggle 2 million worth of heroin into the United Kingdom. The British couple was arrested at Pakistan’s Sialkot international airport on Thursday.

Mohammed Tahir Ayaz, 26, and his wife Ikra Hussain, 20, were trying to travel to the UK via Dubai through Emirates Airline’s flight (EK-621).

The Airport Security Force (ASF) found 25 kilograms of fine heroin stitched in different parts of several clothes.

The couple allegedly told the ASF officials that they were trying to smuggle the stash to the UK from Sialkot-Pakistan via Dubai. The cost of seized heroin is stated to be millions of rupees in the international market.

The couple was handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) for further investigation. There are very strict laws in Pakistan on smuggling such huge quantity of drugs.
