After Canadian Singer Justin Bieber and model Hailey Baldwin reportedly tied the knot, the singer is now working to become a U.S. citizen.
The 'Sorry' singer has applied for a dual citizenship, which means he will become an American citizen while still retaining his Canadian status, reported TMZ.
Bieber was born and raised in Ontario, Canada but he also has a deep love for the U.S. and an appreciation for the country.
This might come as good news for the 'Jailey' fans since it will sure deepen his bond with his love interest Baldwin, who lives in New York.
The 24-year-old has lived in the states since he was 13, when he had moved with his family to Atlanta. He currently splits his time between Los Angeles, New York and Ontario, where he recently bought a USD 5 million estate.
The singer has strong connections in the United States, in order to gain the citizenship, the United States government requires that an applicant should have a green card for at least five years; one must be 18 years of age minimum, be able to read, write and speak basic English, and have a good moral character.
A 10-step naturalization process is then started to determine the eligibility of the applicant. The procedure includes preparing and submitting an N-400 form and having a personal interview along with taking the U.S. Naturalization Test.
A source confirmed to People that the much-in-love couple got legally married at the courthouse. The source also added that the married couple will soon have a religious ceremony and celebration with their family and friends.
Earlier, the two were spotted visiting the courthouse where marriage licenses are issued. According to TMZ, several eyewitnesses said that Justin got extremely emotional inside the Marriage Bureau in NYC. They added that the singer also told Hailey, "I can't wait to marry you, baby."
Previously, the 'Love Yourself' singer took to social media on July 10 to confirm his engagement with the 21-year old model.
