UGC NET Exam 2021: From admit card date to paper pattern, check out most frequently asked questions

UGC NET 2021: University Grants Commission (UGC) National Eligibility Test (NET) 2021 exam is yet to release the admit cards for its December 2020 and June 2021 cycles exam.

However, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had already notified that UGC NET exams will be held from November 20, 2021. The revised dates for UGC NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles are available at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.


Meanwhile, there are several questions are running in the mind of UGC NET aspirants that when the admit card will be released? What is the paper pattern? What is the salary of a Junior Research Fellow or Assistant Professor?

"NTA official notification for UGC NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles. This is in continuation to the Public Notice dated 09.10.2021 regarding the Examination dates for UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles.

The dates for the conduct of the Examination for UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles have now been finalized."

The revised dates for UGC NET 2021 exams are-- November 20, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 29 & 30, 2021 and December 1, 3, 4 & 5, 2021.

UGC NET Admit card 2021: Date & Time

NTA has not notified any confirmed date for UGC NET admit card. As per previous trends, expectations have been made that NTA will release the admit cards for UGC NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles on or before November 15. Therefore, candidates should keep their eyes at ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

Check out UGC NET Paper Pattern:

UGC NET exam comprises of two papers i.e. Paper I and Paper-II. Both papers will have objective-type questions or MCQs. The duration of the exam is 3 hours or 180 minutes.

Paper, I will consist of 50 questions of 100 marks. The questions will be based on reasoning ability, reading comprehension, general awareness, and divergent thinking.

Paper-II will comprise 100 questions of 200 marks. Candidates should note that paper 2 will be based on the subject chosen by you at the time of submission of the application form.
Know passing marks required for NTA UGC NET:

Candidates should keep in mind that passing marks vary every year. However, for the general category aspirants need to score at least 40% marks in both Paper 1 and Paper 2 individually. While candidates belonging from a reserved category or OBC Non-creamy layer, PWD/SC/ST and Transgenders, the qualifying marks required for both paper 1 and paper 2 are 35%, individually.

Candidates who will qualify for the UGC NET JRF or Assistant Professor posts exams will get the tentative range of salaries:

For Assistant Professor post: A candidate will get a salary between Rs 25,000 to 50,000 (expected salary)

For Junior Research Fellow: A candidate will get around Rs 31,000/- plus HRA for the first two years. This also depends on various factors set by the NTA UGC NET.
