The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will soon to provide the answer copies to the Board students after this decision of the Supreme Court of India. On Monday, Supreme Court has disposed of a contempt plea against the CBSE after the Board is ready to provide the copy of answer sheets at Rs 2 per page to the students under the Right of Information (RTI) Act.
CBSE’s senior advocate Maninder Singh has submitted the acceptance to the apex court and said that the order of SC was being followed.
A bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and justices S K Kaul and K M Joseph has accepted the submissions.
Now, the contempt of court has been disposed of that claimed that exorbitant fees were taken by the CBSE from the students in violation of the court’s order for accessing the answer sheets under the RTI.
CBSE has responded that it would provide the answer sheets to the students only at Rs 2 per page as per the order of the Supreme Court of India.
Earlier, it was alleged that CBSE is charging Rs 1,000 for class 10th students and Rs 1,200 for Class 12th students who demand to re-check their answer sheets or copies of their answer sheets. The contempt plea has alleged that the CBSE has deliberately disobeyed the directions of the apex court, which had in 2016 said that the board should ‘scrupulously’ follow its 2011 verdict holding that the students have the fundamental and legal right to access their evaluated answer-sheets under the Right to Information Act.
