The National Eligibility Entrance Test- Postgraduate (NEET PG) Counselling 2022, for admission to postgraduate medical courses, has been deferred by the Union Health Ministry to allow the National Medical Commission to complete the process of adding new seats. The Counselling was scheduled to be held from September 1, 2022.
The announcement was made on August 29, the same day when the Supreme Court had denied to stall the NEET PG Counselling process.
The Apex Court was hearing a petition which challenged the decision of the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) not to issue question papers and answer keys for the NEET-PG 2022 examination.
Although the date of the NEET PG Counselling hasn't been made official, sources indicate that it is likely to begin in the third week of September.
Every year, the NEET-PG is conducted in the month of January and Counselling begins in March. But because of the delay in the last year’s admission process due to COVID-19, this year, the examination was conducted in May and the results were declared in June.
This year, the NEET PG Counselling is likely to be conducted for around 52,000 seats. The PG Counselling will start for all central universities, deemed universities, 50 percent of the All India and State quota of both dental and medical colleges.
