An important update for aspirants who have applied for the Joint Entrance Examination and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The HRD Ministry on Sunday said that the new dates for the competitive exams—JEE and NEET, will be announced on May 5.
According to the MHRD official, “the fresh dates will be announced by HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' on May 5. This will put an end to uncertainty for the aspirants. The minister will also interact with students online on the same day.”
Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishak will be going to announce the examination dates for both the entrance examinations Tuesday during his live interaction with students, The Print reports said.
According to the leading media portal reports, JEE and NEET exam will be held at the end of June.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country, JEE and NEET examination was postponed by the government of India. Meanwhile, India is observing lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
On Friday, the Ministry of HRD extended the lockdown till May 17.
This year, over 15 lakh students have applied for the NEET examination. Aspirants who will qualify the NEET exam will be eligible to take admissions to the reputed medical colleges in the country.
Over 9 lakh registrations have been done for the JEE Mains exam which is a gateway to the engineering colleges in India.
While aspirants who want to take admissions to the IITs must clear the JEE Advanced, which is held after JEE Mains. With the delay in JEE Mains, the entrance test for JEE Advanced has also been postponed.
