International Yoga Day will be celebrated on June 21st and before this occasion, Union AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) Minister Shripad Naik has sent a proposal to the HRD Ministry to add Yoga as a subject in academics.
AYUSH minister asked to include 'Yoga' as a compulsory subject under the Physical Education (PE) curriculum for school and college students from the next academic session.
As per the reports of news agency PTI, “We expect the proposal to be cleared as soon as possible, which will allow Yoga to be part of the curriculum from the 2020-21 academic year,” Naik said.

He also spoke on the preparation of World Yoga Day that it will be celebrated worldwide on 21st June. The main event will be held in Ranchi in Jharkhand. Prime Minister Narendra Modi would be the chief guest.
Also, several yoga gurus and several dignitaries from abroad would mark their presence in the grand event. This year, the number of countries hosting programmes to celebrate Yoga Day has been risen from 177 to around 200.
As per the AYUSH Ministry officials, the event will be held at the Prabhat Tara ground and around 30,000 people likely to participate in it.

Yoga may be made a compulsory subject in education system from class one to university level irrespective of the course one study. It will be a silent revolution throughout the entire country.
