Gujarat Board Exam: Only 61,000 Out of 2.11 Lakh Students Pass Supplementary Exam

Surat: A total of 2,11,723 students appeared for the supplementary exam conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSEB) in June, but only 61,881 students managed to pass. This means that 1,49,842 students failed to clear the exam.

The GSEB had conducted the supplementary exam in June for students who failed to clear the March exam. The exam was held from June 24 to July 6. This year, the rules for the supplementary exam were changed, resulting in a higher number of students appearing for the exam.


Out of 1,28,337 students who registered for the 10th standard, only 29,542 students passed the exam. Similarly, out of 26,927 students who registered for the 12th standard science stream, only 8,143 students passed, while out of 56,459 students who registered for the 12th standard general stream, only 24,196 students passed.

The overall result of the 10th standard is a mere 28.29%. Out of 75,228 boys, only 16,943 passed, while out of 53,109 girls, only 12,599 passed. The result of the 12th standard general stream is 49.26%. Out of 34,424 boys, 14,444 passed, while out of 21,745 girls, 9,640 passed. The result of the 12th standard science stream is 30.48%. Out of 12,926 boys, only 3,818 passed, while out of 14,001 girls, only 4,325 passed.

Overall, a total of 35,205 boys and 26,564 girls passed the supplementary exam.
