Bihar Board Exam 2018: Will banning shoes and socks in the exam centres stop cheating?

Bihar board examination for class 10 has begun from 21 February across the state. Over 17 lakh of candidates had appeared for the matriculation exam. The Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released the notification earlier to the students and asked them not to wear shoes or socks to appear in the examination so as to stop the cheating and other malpractices at the exam centre.

However, those candidates went the centre by putting the shoes and socks were not allowed to enter the examination centres only after removing their footwear they allowed sitting for the paper.

According to the board guidelines these measures have been taken to stop the malpractices during the examination. As in the past, there had been many incidents of cheating on a mass scale found during the board examination of Class 10th, 12th.

Meanwhile, the restriction on shoes has raged the mixed reactions among the examinees. As one of the students said that they have been told to wear slippers for the exam. But it would really help in improving the quality of education. While the other student told that the decision is right as some students used to hide in shoes and socks. Now they won't be able to do that.

Recently, there were around 1000 students had been expelled during the 12th board exam for cheating.

According to the media reports, the opposition had criticised the government decision and called it a diktat.

As per the Education Minister Krishnanandan Prasad Verma,' this move will help in stopping the unfair practices. Because checking each and every student's shoes and socks will take a lot of time'.

But the question raised here that whether this step will really help in improving the education system in Bihar?
