If your social media feeds are suddenly brimful of gender swapped pictures of friends and families, it’s thanks to new trend that has gone viral. FaceApp is a photo editing app that allows users to alter their looks entirely. It lets users to add a smile to a photo, see what they look like when they get older and change the gender of the person in the pictures.
Although this application has been around for quite sometime, and so has the gender swap filter, it has stormed into favour again.
Yuzvendra Chahal took to twitter to check out the gender swap trend not on him but on Rohit Sharma. In his recent tweet that has left fans amused, he transformed Rohit into Rohita – leaving off the facial hair in favour of long tresses and make-up.

His tweet has gathered more than 93,000 likes and over 6,500 retweets. It has also collected a ton of amused comments from fans.

Although gender swap apps are popular online, they have gone through many criticism for reinforcing gender stereotypes and sparked heated debates. Earlier, in 2017, FaceApp had also invited massive backlash with a feature that allowed users to change the ethnicity of a person.
