Former India all rounder Yuvraj Singh is of the opinion that youngster Shivam Dube should be given time to put up consistent performance for the Indian side. Dube has come under fire after his recent performance in India’s ongoing tour of New Zealand. He gave away 34 runs in one over in the fifth T20I of the five match series, which gave way to the wrath of fans on the internet.
However, Yuvraj believes that Dube is a gifted cricketer and should be given more time to play is natural game an the international circuit. The 38-year-old also said that first choice all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be making his comeback into the side after a lengthy spell out because of an injury, so it is not sure that he will start performing instantaneously.
“Shivam Dube I think is a good talent, but you have to give him time,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying by Sports360. “Hardik is coming back from a back injury, and bowling fast after a back injury is going to be tough. So I don’t know how Hardik will turn out.
“Looking at Dube, you have to give the guy a bit of time and we will see in the future who comes out with the consistent performances.”
Shivam Dube has thus far played in 13 T20Is for the men in blue and has amassed just 105 runs. He has played nine innings and his highest score is 54 runs. With the ball. He has just five wickets to his name at an economy rate of 10.04. Dube was seen as India’s replacement for Hardik Pandya but so far, has displayed just glimpses of it in his inconsistent short career.
