England all-rounder Ben Stokes helped his team create history in the Ashes trophy as he chased down 73 runs single-handedly to win the third match of the series. England had never chased more than 350 runs in a Test match against Australia, but Ben Stokes made sure this changes today.

Stokes played an amazing knock of 135 runs not-out including an unbelievable 8 sixes. Stokes was the only batsman left when England was 261-7. Stokes also scored the first century of the match. England came back into the match miraculously after their batting collapsed in the first innings and they were bundled out for just 67 runs.

The five-match Test series is now levelled at 1-1 and England will look to regain the urn at home. After winning the toss England captain Joe Root asked Australia to bat first and they scored 179 runs in the first innings. After bundling out England for 67, Australia scored 246 runs in the second innings. England needed 359 runs to win and Ben Stokes help it achieve that.

England skipper Joe Root scored 77 runs before he was dismissed by Nathan Lyon. Joe Denly scored 50 while Jonny Bairstow scored 36 runs. Since England’s World Cup victory this year, nobody expected Stokes would ever play a better knock than he did in the finals. But Stokes proved everyone wrong as he produced a better knock that that.
