The final was a thrilling encounter between the arch rivals of the IPL. The match was truly of IPL standards as it went down to the last ball. Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians came victorious at the end with Lasith Malinga taking a wicket off the last ball.
Batting first, Mumbai Indians posted 149 runs on board with the help of Quinton de Kock’s 29 and Kieron Pollard’s 41. Chennai Super Kings was looking good during the chase as Shane Watson single-handedly scored runs after Faf du Plessis was dismissed for 26 runs.
Shane Watson scored 80 runs before he became an unfortunate victim of a run-out in the 19th over. Shardul Thakur came in and took two runs but failed to take another two from the last ball as Malinga dismissed him lbw.
