Watch: New Zealand all rounder Andrew Ellis dons helmet while bowling
New Zealand all rounder Andrew Ellis, who received a head blow with a ball last season, was seen sporting a customized helmet while bowling during the match between Canterbury and Northern District in the Ford Trophy.
Andrew Ellis, the right handed all-rounder, featured for New Zealand in 15 ODIs and 5 T20I, wore a helmet almost identical to that of baseball during the Ford Trophy match on Wednesday.
In 2018, the 37 year old was hit by a shot from Jeet Raval, the impact was so hard that the ball was seen flying over the boundary rope after hitting the bowlers head. Ellis underwent a concussion test later on.

At the time, Ellis stated, “For guys like me who tend to bowl at the death and try to bowl yorkers, it’s probably a prudent move. It’s better to try and be a little innovative here, and be the world leader around this issue.”
