Sri Lanka veteran pacer Lasith Malinga will play in his fourth World Cup this year after he made his one-day international debut in 2004. Lasith Malinga was considered the best death bowler of his time and still scares the opposition with his fiery yorkers.
Malinga who played a crucial part in Mumbai Indians’ fourth Indian Premier League victory. Malinga bowled the last over and took a wicket in the last ball to defeat Chennai Super Kings by just 1 run. Sri Lanka was playing a warm-up match against Australia yesterday and Lasith Malinga was seen giving a piece of advice to Australian all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.
The video of the duo is since going viral on social media. Stoinis and Malinga can be seen practicing with the ball. The video shared by the official Twitter account of Cricket World Cup has gained more than 50k views. In a post-match press conference, Lasith Malinga was asked about the incident to which he replied, “The thing is, variation is very important in the shorter format. I spoke to him during the IPL also, he wanted to learn the slower ball and how I bowl it. I expect him (Stoinis) to bowl the dipping slower ball.”
Sri Lanka lost the game to Australia by 5 wickets. Usman Khawaja scored 89 runs and Shaun Marsh scored 34 to help Australia finish the game comfortably.
