Hardik Pandya and South African bowler Hardus Viljoen engaged into a staredown battle last night during a match between Mumbai Indians and Kings XI Punjab. The incident took place in the 12th over when Mumbai were four wickets down and needed 104 runs from eight overs. Hardus walked straight towards Hardik and stared him into the eye. Hardik Pandya stood his ground and continued to do the same until the South African backed off laughing cheekily.

Hardus Viljoen gave away 34 runs from the four overs he bowled, while Hardik Pandya was dismissed by Mohammed Shami for 19 off 13.
Mumbai Indians went on to win the match by 3 wickets. Stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard took the match away from Punjab which they were comfortably winning till 15th over. KL Rahul’s 100 run knock and Chris Gayle 63 runs went in vain as Pollard scored 83 off 31 to snatch the victory away from Punjab’s jaw.
Pollard took his team from 62-3 to 194 before he was dismissed by Ankit Rajpoot in the last over. Pollard was awarded three trophies for his mind-blowing performance including the Game changer of the Match, Super Striker of the Match and Man of the Match.
Thanks to Pollard, Mumbai Indians are now at number three on the points table with eight points to their name from six matches. Mumbai have now won three consecutive matches after beating Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mumbai will play Rajasthan Royals on April 13 at Wankhede Stadium.
