England won their first ever World Cup title on boundary count after the stipulated 50 over game and the super over concluded in a tie.

The ICC rule that reckons up the number of boundaries scored by both the teams in 50 overs of batting came under reproval by many cricketers with former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag calling it a tie.

Virender Sehwag took to Twitter expressing admiration for the Kiwis skipper Kane Williamson’s spirit and calmness despite the outcome.

"New Zealand had many fans in India and today they have won many more, by their calmness and spirit. Kane Williamson, smiling after the tie. Beautiful to see #CWC19Final," Sehwag wrote.

Virender Sehwag’s tweet claiming the game to be a tie was not taken well by the former England skipper Michael Vaughan and he replied to Sehwag by accepting Kane Willianson was a great ambassador for the game, but also asserted that the game wasn’s tied.

“I agree on Viru..great ambassador for the game, but one thing it wasn’t a tie in the end!!,” Vaughan tweeted.

After the win, England became the sixth team to lift the World Cup.
