Virat Kohli one century away from equalling Sachin Tendulkar's record

Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who has been in record breaking spree, will on Tuesday have the opportunity to equal Sachin Tendulkar in the number of ODI hundreds on home soil when India face Australia in the first ODI of the three match series.

Sachin Temdulkar, who clings to the record for most hundreds in the limited overs cricket, knocked 20 of those centuries on home soil, while Kohli presently sits on 19 centuries at home and will match the legend if he crosses the three figure mark against Australia at Mumbai’s Wankhede.

Not long ago, Kohli became the fastest to reach 11,000 international runs as skipper as the men in blue faced Sri Lanka in the third T20I encounter.

On the eve of team India’s ODI opener, Kohli stated that his side is ‘absolutely open to play pink ball cricket in their next tour.

"Look we played the day-night Test here, we were pretty happy with how it went and it has become a very exciting feature of any Test series and we are absolutely up to playing day night Test” Kohli said.

“We are absolutely up for the challenge and whether its Gabba, Perth doesn’t matter to us. We do have skill ssets now to compete against anyone in the world anywhere in any format of the game,” Kohli added.

The Indian skipper also elucidated on the possibility of Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul playin together with the latter duo fighting for the spot in the opening slot along with Rohit.

"Look, a guy in form is always good for the team...You obviously want to have the best players available and then choose from what the combination should be for the team. There might be a possibility that all three (Rohit, Shikhar and Rahul) might play. It will be interesting to see what balance we want to take in on the field," Kohli said.
