Virat Kohli becomes second Indian skipper to achieve this landmark

Virat Kohli became the second Indian skipper to lead the team in 50 Test matches. The skipper attained this landmark as India take on South Africa in the second Test match in Pune. Kohli outstripped Sourav Ganguly to become the second Indian captain to attain this feat.

World Cup winning skipper MS Dhoni has captained the national team for the maximum times in red ball cricket. He has led India in 60 Tests.

Not long ago, Virat Kohli surpassed MS Dhoni to become the most successful Indian skipper in the longest format of the game.

Kohli had 27 wins to his ranks ahead of the second Test against West Indies, but with a victory, he took his tally to 28 wins in Test cricket.

Virat Kohli now has 29 wins from 49 matches as Test captain, while MS Dhoni had 27 Test wins in 60 matches.

After India won the first Test against the Caribbean side, Kohli had added yet another feather to his cap, becoming the most successful Indian skipper in overseas Test. Virat Kohli has surpassed Sourav Ganguly to attain this milestone.

This was Virat’s 12th win, he attained the record in his 26th game as captain on foreign soil, Ganguly had 11 Test wins in 28 games.
