Video: Virat Kohli would love to meet the these 'true heroes'

The Indian skipper Virat Kohli in a video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) thanked armed forces for all the sacrifices they make for the nation. In the video, Virat can also be seen confessing that he and the Indian squad would love to meet the 'true heroes' of the nation.

On the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day, Virat has expressed how much pride he takes in the Indian armed forces. In the third Test match at Delhi’s Feroz Shah Kotla ground against Sri Lanka of the three match series, Indian squad was seen sporting the Armed Forces badges on their jerseys to show their respect on the Armed Forces Week. To honour the martyrs, Armed forced day is observed on 7 December from 1949.

In a video shared by the BCCI, Indian skipper Virat Kohli along with the star batsman of India Cheteshwar Pujara can be seen paying tribute to the true heroes of the nation. “Sporting the Army Forces Flag Day logo on our jerseys was a moment of pride for all of us, especially during the national anthem. When we put it on our jerseys, we understood the sacrifices of all the armed forces that protect our nation 24/7 and make sure we keep living in peace. They have been doing so for so many years and we just want to send our best wishes to them,” Kohli said.

“We feel that you are the true heroes. We always are very thankful to what you do for the nation. If given a chance, we would always love to meet you, as team or as individuals also so that we can get more inspiration and have a nice time together,” Kohli added.

Cheteshwar Pujara said, “It is a proud moment for us talking about the soldiers’ day. They keep us safe and make a lot of sacrifices. As he (Kohli) said, one day we would definitely like to meet them.”

Other than, Pujara and Kohli, former explosive Indian opener Virender Sehwag and Suresh Raina also posted their heartfelt tributes to the ‘brave men’ on micro-blogging site Twitter.
