The salary of the players that won the first World Cup for India will surprise you as cricketers are now paid crores. The salary of Kapil Dev and company was not even a fraction of what cricketers in 21st century make.
Makarand Waingankar, a renowned cricket journalist and former cricket administrator shared the picture of the team sheet as well as their salaries along with team manager Bishen Singh Bedi’s stipend. The players used to get Rs 200 per day as allowance and Rs 1500 as match fees per game. The manager at that time Bishen Singh Bedi was also given the same amount as the players.

In contrast, Virat Kohli and boys are showered with money as they get Rs 6 lakh per ODI match and Rs 15 lakh per Test match as their fee, other than that their salary per year depends on the contract they are serving on with the BCCI. Indian skipper Virat Kohli makes Rs 7 crore per year with a Grade A+ contract.
In addition to that, Indian cricketers now have the luxury to play in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. Virat Kohli who captains Royal Challengers Bangalore was retained by the franchise for Rs 16 crore, which makes his pay to Rs 1.5 crore per match.
