Former Indian cricketer turned commentator Sunil Gavaskar is not someone to mince his words. Be it on the cricket field or in the commentator’s box, Gavaskar’s words always manage to impress people. Continuing his streak of witty remarks, Gavaskar once again managed to impress the people during an IPL encounter between Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants.
During the match, while the screen was showing the beautiful Marine Drive in Mumbai, Sunil Gavaskar had a request for his fellow British commentator Alan Wilkins. While comparing Marine Drive to the Queen’s necklace, Gavaskar told Wilkins, “We are still awaiting the Kohinoor diamond”.
As the duo began laughing at the comment, Gavaskar continued to ask Wilkins if he had any special influence so that he could request the British government to give back the diamond.

The internet was immensely amused at the cheeky comment. While some lauded his humour, others wrote about how fun the interaction was.

Sunil Gavaskar just asked fellow commentator @alanwilkins22 to return the Kohinoor. “If you have any influence, maybe you can ask the Queen to return it.”

Sunil Gavaskar just did it!!
He asked Alan Wilkins to wiggle around his influence all the way up to the royalty in order secure the Kohinoor back for India while commentating live on TV in front of the millions. Casually!
