Sri Lanka cricket team registered a unique record against Pakistan despite not playing the game due to rain. The match was called off as it continued to shower all day long and both the teams were awarded one point each as the game finished with no result.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka have played six times in World Cup since 1992 and the former holds the record of not losing a single match. As both the teams got one point each after today’s abandoned match, Sri Lanka set the record as they registered their first point against Pakistan in World Cup.
In the head-to-head competition between Pakistan and Sri Lanka in World Cups, Pakistan was leading by 6-0. But Sri Lanka getting one point for no-result saw them registering this unique record.
In what was supposed to be the third match for both the teams as they have played two matches before. Both Pakistan and Sri Lanka have lost their first World Cup match and won their second one. Pakistan lost to West Indies in their World Cup opener and Bangladesh lost to New Zealand. Pakistan won against England while Bangladesh against Afghanistan in their respective second match.
Pakistan will play against Australia on June 12 and Sri Lanka will play against Bangladesh in their next outing on June 11.
