South Africa cricket team is having a poor World Cup this year as they have won only one game in the tournament so far. South Africa is now out of the semi-final race as they have only 3 points to their name. South Africa lost to Pakistan by 49 runs.
South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis said that Kagiso Rabada’s pace is probably a little bit down. And Faf has the Indian Premier League to blame for that. Du Plessis said that he advised Rabada to skip the IPL and take rest as he plays all the three formats for the national side and rest before the World Cup was much needed.
“I don’t think we’ll ever have a perfect answer for that because he’s probably biting on too much. But we did try and get him not to go to the IPL; to try and stay and get fresh. That wasn’t the case of — and then when he went there, we were like, let’s try and get him back halfway through the IPL because it’s important, not just for him, but a few other players,” Faf was quoted as saying by crictracker.com.
“The fact that they didn’t meant that they — you know, they came into the tournament not fresh. That’s not an excuse; that’s just a fact. And KG is — you can see that his pace is probably a little bit down from where he normally is,” Faf added.
South Africa has lost six out of the seven matches they played and they have two games against Sri Lanka and Australia left.
