In a major blow to Royal Challengers Bangalore ( RCB), batsman KL Rahul has been ruled out of the upcoming tenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) due to a shoulder injury.The 24-year-old sustained the left shoulder injury during the first Test against Australia in Pune, but continued to play through pain for the rest of the four-match series.
As reported by ESPNcricinfo quoting a source from within the team, Rahul will soon be heading to London to undergo surgery.
Rahul smashed six half-centuries from seven innings he played to finish as the third-highest scorer on either side with a tally of 393 runs. He also struck winning runs in the fourth and the final Test in Dharamsala to help India seal the series 2-1.
Rahul is Royal Challengers' second major injury setback after captain Virat Kohli was also believed to have been ruled out of the IPL 2017 for atleast a `few weeks` due to a shoulder injury he suffered while putting in a dive on the first day of the drawn third Test in Ranchi.
The season 10 of the IPL begins on April 5 and runs until May 21.
