Shikhar Dhawan has been included in India A squad for the last two one-day games against South Africa A. India A is currently leading the ODI series by 1-0 after they defeated South Africa A by 69 runs. Dhawan has been called in to replace Vijay Shankar who injured his right thumb.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a statement which read, “The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Friday decided to add Mr Shikhar Dhawan to India A squad for the fourth and fifth one-day against South Africa A. India A are currently leading the series 1-0 following their 69 runs victory in the first one-day held on Thursday in Thiruvananthapuram.”

Shikhar Dhawan recently played the T20I and ODI series against West Indies in the Caribbean. Shikhar Dhawan failed to play up to the mark and scored 1, 23, 3 in the T20I series, while just 2 and 36 in the ODI series.

Dhawan was injured during the 2019 World Cup and was ruled out of the tournament after the Australia game where he scored a century. Rishabh Pant replaced the left-handed batsman for the rest of the tournament.
