Shakib Al Hasan first Bangladesh cricketer to register this record, second after Yuvraj Singh

Shakib Al Hasan is having a great World Cup this year as he is already the highest run scorer in the tournament with two centuries and three half-centuries. Shakib has 476 runs from six match in the tournament so far. Shakib Al Hasan took his second five-wicket-haul in ODI cricket today against Afghanistan. Hasan also became the first Bangladesh cricketer to score 1000 runs ICC Cricket World Cup.

Shakib Al Hasan after dismissing Najibullah Zadran entered a rare list of brilliance. Shakib became the first Bangladesh cricketer and the second player in the history of ODI cricket to score a fifty and take a 5 wicket haul in the same match. Yuvraj Singh was the first ODI player to do so against Ireland in 2011.


Shakib scored 51 runs off 69 balls and his bowling figure at the end of the match read 29-5 in 10 overs. Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 62 runs as the men in blue were bundled out for 200 runs. Shakib Al Hasan was awarded the man of the match for his brilliant performance with both bat and the ball.

Bangladesh will play against India and Pakistan on July 2 and July 5 respectively. Bangladesh is sitting at number five on the points table having won three out of the seven matches they have played.
