The ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup has seen some of the mouthwatering matches but the most awaited clash of the tournament is between India and Pakistan. India will play against their arch-rival Pakistan on June 16 at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Both the countries are doing their best to cash in on the match as several advertisements related to the clash is being telecast in India and Pakistan. Indian broadcaster recently came out with an ad where they are taking a jibe at Pakistan as it is father’s day on June 16. While Pakistani broadcaster released a 33-second video which mocks IAF pilot Abhinandan Varthaman who was captured in the country.
Ace Indian Tennis player Sania Mirza who is married to Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik has criticised the advertisements and termed it cringe-worthy. Sania took to her official Twitter handle to slam the ads as she wrote, “Cringeworthy ads on both sides of the border seriously guys, you don’t need to ‘hype up’ or market the match anymore specially with rubbish! it has ENOUGH attention already! It’s only cricket for God sake, and if you think it’s anymore than that then get a grip or get a life!!”

The advertisement war playing out in both countries is something we all have to rise above as it targets a lot of audiences and harms their thought process. The healthy rivalry among India versus Pakistan is okay but targeting each other with cheap advertisements is not acceptable.
