Sachin in his autobiography describes that he was suffering from dehydration and having a stomach ache. I mixed a spoon of salt in my energy drink in hope of getting well soon but the opposite happened. I got loose motion and bad stomach.
But his bad stomach did not get in way of his bat. Sachin opened the innings with Virender Sehwag and went on to smash 97 runs, while his opening partner scored 66. Skipper Sourav Ganguly also played a crucial knock of 48. India went on to make 292 runs from 50 overs.
In reply, Indian bowler bundled out Sri Lanka for just 109 runs in 23 overs. Javagal Srinath and Ashish Nehra took four wickets each, while Zahir Khan scalped 2 to his name.
