Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Shawan surpassed Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag to achieve this one-day internationals milestone. In the second ODI against New Zealand, Sharma and Dhawan made their 14th hundred runs partnership to break legendary duo Sachin and Virender’s record of 13 hundred runs partnership.
India won the second one-day internationals by 90 runs. India after winning the toss opted to bat first and put up a mammoth score of 324 runs. Rohit Sharma scored 87 runs off 96 balls while his partner Shikhar Dhawan hit 66 runs off 67 balls.
Virat Kohli also played an important knock hitting 43 off 45 before getting out in Boult’s over. Ambati Rayudu too made contributions with bat hitting 47 runs being bowled and caught by Ferguson.
Indian wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni once again showed his form by scoring an unbeaten 48 runs knock off 33 balls. Kedar Jadhav came in the end and hit an amazing 22 runs off 10 balls.
For New Zealand Dough Bracewell played an important knock of 57 off 45 but all his efforts went in vain as the Kiwis went on to lose the match. Martin Guptill was looking good before getting out at 15 off 16 balls. Colin Munro scored 31 runs off 41 balls while skipper Kane Williamson scored 20 runs before being bowled by Mohammed Shami. Ross Taylor, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, de Grandhomme all of them couldn’t contribute much with their bat as they got out for 22, 34, 28 and 3 runs respectivel
Bhuveneshwar Kumar and Yuzvendra Chahal took two wickets each, while Mohammed Shami and Kedar Jadhav took one wickets each. Vijay Shankar remained wicket-less once again.
India are now leading the five-match ODI series by 2-0 and will play their next match on January 28 in the same stadium.
