Indian wicket-keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has surpassed former Indian skipper MS Dhoni to achieve an extraordinary milestone in Test cricket. Rishabh Pant has become the fastest Indian keeper to reach 50 dismissals in Test cricket. Playing in his 11th Test match, Rishabh Pant took a catch to dismiss Kraigg Brathwaite off the Ishant Sharma’s delivery to reach his 50th wicket.

MS Dhoni took 15 Test matches to reach the milestone. Last year in December, Pant equalled the world record for most catches in a Test match. Pant took 11 catches in the first Test against Australia and equalled Jack Russell and AB de Villiers’ record. MS Dhoni took retirement from Test cricket in 2014 and since then the Indian management has not played a wicket-keeper batsman regularly, but with Pant the captain and the management look to invest some time and play him regularly.

India is currently playing the second Test match against West Indies at Sabina Park, Jamaica. India is looking in commanding position after it scored 416 in the first innings and 168-declared in the second innings. Indian bowlers demolished West Indies batting attack in the first innings when they bundled out the host team for just 117 runs. West Indies is now chasing a target of 423 runs as they scored 45 at loss of two wickets before the end of Day 3.
