Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag hopes that the wicket-keeper-batsman Rishabh Pant focuses on improving his game. Rishabh Pant in the first Test against West Indies was dismissed because of poor shot selection and that has caused his downfall in Indian cricket, Pant has not delivered what is expected of him and that has caused Sehwag’s concern.
“Pant is an extremely talented cricketer with huge potential. It will be important that he is groomed well,” Sehwag told PTI.
The 21-year old is seen as a replacement of former Indian skipper MS Dhoni in Indian cricket and the management is investing a lot in him. Sehwag wants Pant to justify team management’s faith in him and deliver results.
In the first innings of the first Test against West Indies, Pant was dismissed for 24 runs by Roston Chase and was dismissed for just 7 runs in the second innings by the same bowler.
India beat West Indies by 318 runs in the first Test of the series after Jasprit Bumrah scalped a 5-for and Indian vice-captain score a century.
