Young wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant surpassed Kumar Sangakkara to achieve this Indian Premier League record. Rishabh Pant set the record for registering the most number of dismissals in a twenty20 tournament.
Delhi Capitals’ wicket-keeper batsman registered his 20th dismissal in IPL 2019 to surpass Kumar Sangakkara’s tally of 19 dismissals in IPL 2011. Pant has 15 catches and five stumpings in IPL 2019 so far.
However, in the overall tally MS Dhoni is at number two on the list with 125 dismissals from 178 innings, while Dinesh Karthik tops the list with 130 dismissals from 164 innings. Other players to feature in the list are Robin Uthappa at number 3, Naman Ojha at number four, Parthiv Patel at number five and Adam Gilchrist at number seven.
Kumar Sangakkara is at number eight on the list with Wriddhiman Saha at number six. Rishabh Pant is at number nine to feature on the list, while Mumbai Indians’ Quinton de Kock is at number ten.
Rishabh Pant was one of the three players that Delhi Capitals retained at 2018 IPL auction. Pant did not disappoint as he scored 684 runs from 14 innings. Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals have already qualified for the IPL 2019 play-offs for the first time since 2012.
Rishabh Pant went on to make his debut for team India and became India’s number one wicket-keeper batsman in Test cricket.
