Young pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi was immediately inducted into the Pakistan national team after his brilliant stint at 2018 Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand. Afridi has been a regular in Pakistan’s line-up ever since.
Yesterday, in a warm-up match between Afghanistan and Pakistan, Afridi tried sledging Hazratullah Zazai but he smartly forged his attempt. The incident took place in the 4th over of the second innings when Afridi came in to bowl.
Hazratullah hit three consecutive fours off the first three balls, Shaheen was looking frustrated. The fourth ball was a bouncer after which the teenager walked up and exchanged a few words but Zazai gestured him to go back in the coolest way possible.
Fifth ball was given wide by the umpire. Zazai hit the next two balls for boundary again. The over reading was 4,4,4,0,Wd,44 as Zazai scored 21 runs off Afridi’s spell.
Zazai went on to attack veteran Wahab Riaz in the 10th over and hit three boundaries off the last three balls. Zazai hit 6,4,6 and cost Riaz 18 runs in the over.
Hazratullah went on to score 49 runs off just 28 balls before he was dismissed by Shadab Khan when he mistimed a shot that went straight to Shoaib Malik.
Afghanistan won the match by 3 wickets and created history as it was their first win against Pakistan in a 50-over match.
