Pakistan all rounder Imad Wasim has disclosed what Wahab Riaz told him during Pakistan’s must win match against Afghanistan, where Pakistan defeted Afghanistan by three wickets with two ball remaining. Wahab Riaz told him that no matter what he would back him up.
Wahab Riaz had a broken finger and was fighting through pain, he scored much needed 15 runs to see Pakistan sail through victory.
Imad Wasim was named the man of the match as he scored unbeaten 49 of 54 balls which included five boundaries.
Imad Wasim and Wahab Riaz both claimed two wickets each with an economy rate of 4.80 and 3.63.
Imad went on to say that he has great respect for Wahab Riaz as he couldn’t hold his bat properly, but still did all that he could to lead the men in green to victory.
“Hats off to Wahab, who despite having tremendous pain and [not being able to] hold the bat properly, assured me don’t worry, I will provide you full back up. His words were full of emotions and he lived up to his each and every word,” Imad told The Nation.
“He not only hit a highly crucial boundary but also a magnificent six out of the park,” Imad added.
“The situation at that time was nerve-wracking, but he remained cool and that’s what mattered for Pakistan. Each and every individual wants to contribute towards the national cause,” he added.
Pakistan will now go face to face with Bangladesh at Lord’s cricket ground on friday, where they have to beat the Bengal tigers by a huge margin in order to qualify of the semi finals of the ongoing World Cup.
