Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed allegedly accused ICC of helping India in World Cup

The ‘pitch-fixing’ scandal has come into the light once again after Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed reportedly accused the International Cricket Council (ICC) of favouring India with batting friendly pitches. Sarfaraz is disappointed as Pakistan get pitches in ICC events that don’t suit their style of play.

“The captain has been wondering as to why the Indians always get wickets which are good for batting and also suitable for spinners. Such wickets suit Asian teams. However, the Pakistan team is almost always made to play on more challenging surfaces in ICC events like the one at Taunton,” a source close to Sarfaraz was quoted as saying in Geo News

After India’s first World Cup 2019 match win against South Africa, rumours were being spread that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has manipulated pitches in England to favour team India. Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar swept the rumours aside by saying that it is impossible to manipulate wickets in England and India won because they were a better side on the day.

India went on to win their second game against Australia by 36 runs at the Oval. Shikhar Dhawan was awarded the man of the match trophy for his brilliant century. India was supposed to play against New Zealand today but the match was abandoned due to rain and both the teams were awarded one point each.
