Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 94 runs; Shoaib Malik gets guard of honour as he retires

Pakistan beat Bangladesh by 94 runs to end the World Cup on a high. Pakistan bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi scalped the best bowling figure of his one-day international career as he picked up 6 wickets for 35 runs. Shoaib Malik received a guard of honour from his teammates as he took retirement from international cricket.

After winning the toss, Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed elected to bat first. The decision didn't backfire as Pakistan put up 315 runs on board in 50 overs. Opener Imam-ul-Haq scored his first World Cup hundred and was dismissed just after that by Mustafizur Rahman for 100 off 100.

Babar Azam was looking good to score his second World Cup hundred but was dismissed by Saifuddin for 96 runs. Imad Wasim played some really good cricket again as he scored 43 runs before he was dismissed by Mustafizur. Mustafizur Rahman took his second consecutive five-wicket-haul of this World Cup.

In reply, Bangladesh was bundled out for 221 runs in 44.1 overs. Shakib Al Hasan was the highest run-scorer again for his team as he hit 64 off 77 before he was dismissed by Shaheen Afridi. No other batsmen were able to fire up after having good start initially and Bangladesh failed to chase down the target. Shaheen with his six wickets became the youngest bowler in the history of World Cup to take five wickets in an innings.
